Don’t cut workers out of the conversation about workplace violence!

It’s working people who deal with, and have been dealing with, violence in their workplaces. Their voices matter. And they should matter to our elected representatives.

Unions representing those working in education have, in the absence of the Ministry’s leadership, conducted their own research into this matter and have compiled invaluable data on violence in public schools across Nova Scotia. Their findings, and their response to the Auditor General’s report, is a direct line to the working people of this province.

If the government chooses to prevent unions from participating in discussions about violence in schools, they are choosing to shut out the people working on the frontlines of this issue.
