Despite bargaining since June, the City of Thunder Bay is pushing harmful and unnecessary concessions on hard-working municipal workers.

These concessions include, among other things, split shifts for day care workers that would impact work/life balance; reduced benefits paid by the employer; an increase the wage gap between union and non-union employees; and limits to the ability of full-time employees to try various temporary positions, preventing them from learning new skills.

The residents of Thunder Bay rely on the services that Inside and Outside municipal workers deliver. A good deal for these workers in Sewer and Water, Arenas, Parks, Roads, Various Administrative positions, Bylaw Officers, Engineers, Building Inspectors and much more, is a good deal for the residents.

It’s time for the City of Thunder Bay to recognize this and to come back to the table with a better offer.
