This year, education at convention will look a bit different. The concept behind the half day of training at the start of convention will be to bring together Executive Committee members from across the province and to offer them a combination of training, networking and best practices specific to their position. This will be an opportunity for executives to learn from other Locals’ experiences, as well as to share what works for them. Each training session will be led by a staff representative and local leaders with experience to share.

In this session Treasurers and Trustees will learn about, share experiences of, and put into practice skills and knowledge related to: • I have no idea what I am doing! How do I get training/mentoring? • Reporting financials to the members. Why do they always ask me something I don’t know? • National Cost Shared Campaigns and the tracking/reporting responsibilities. • What to do when things just don’t add up. • All the things we haven’t thought of to CYA: WCB, event insurance, T4 slips, etc

Presidents and Vice Presidents – Networking Session Leadership is a bitch In this session Presidents and Vice Presidents will learn about, share experiences of, and put into practice skills and knowledge related to: • Chairing meetings during sticky discussions • What happens when you are the one doing everything… • Using your team members/Motivating your team members • Recruiting new team members/Succession planning in a democratic environment • All the things we haven’t thought of to CYA– WCB, event insurance, T4 slips

What goes in and what does not. • The tracking of the motions – why keep a second record? • Digital correspondence with members - best practices • Tools for our toolkits
SDS - Le pouvoir de la mobilisation au travail

le 18 mars 2026 (9 h à midi (rocheuses)) (20 places disponsibles)Les personnes déléguées syndicales peuvent jouer un rôle clé quand le syndicat a besoin d’outiller nos membres, que ce soit pour soutenir le comité de négociation ou stopper les tentatives de l’employeur de sous-traiter notre travail. Apprenez-en plus sur la théorie de la mobilisation et explorez comment les personnes déléguées syndicales peuvent s’attaquer aux problèmes de façon à impliquer plus de membres et faire croître le pouvoir du syndicat.
SLS - Understanding Mental Health

This is a course from the Steward Learning Series. Anybody who has taken the Introduction to Stewarding workshop is welcome to attend. Explore the Steward’s role in supporting and representing members dealing with mental health issues. Learn how to challenge stigma, and how to approach a conversation with a member about a possible mental health issue.
